Deborah Lees
Our family recently experienced the sudden loss of my brother, and our hearts are broken.
Like many families touched by addiction, our journey with him was not always easy. He faced struggles that many people never saw, and those struggles became a part of his story. But they were never the whole story.
Before anything else, he was our brother. He was someone who made us laugh, shared our childhood memories, and held a place in our family that can never be replaced. We choose to remember the moments of joy, the love he gave, and the person he was beyond his battles.
As my sister and I navigate life as the surviving siblings, we are holding tightly to one another and to the memories that remind us of who he truly was. Grief is complicated, especially when loss comes suddenly, but love remains simple. We loved him through the good times and the difficult ones, and we will continue to love him for the rest of our lives.
Rest peacefully, brother. We hope you have found the peace that eluded you here. You will always be loved, always be remembered, and always be missed.
