William A Sheck Sr.'s Obituary
William A. Sheck Sr., "Mr. Bill" passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024, in hospice care at Delaware Hospice in Lewes, Delaware. Born on March 21, 1928, in Baltimore, Maryland. He lived to the ripe age of 95.
Bill proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during World War II, in Japan. After his service, he worked at Federal Tin and as a Central Office Technician for C&P Telephone, where his meticulous work made him a respected figure among his colleagues and friends.
Beyond his professional life, Bill was an artist at heart. His love for sketching and oil painting allowed him to create beautiful canvases that reflected the beauty he saw in the world. After his retirement he took his creativity to new heights in the kitchen as he honed his talents as a gourmet cook and home baker. One of his greatest joys was to sing. His melodious voice found a home in the Delaware Men's Chorus, where he sang with joy and pride. He was always ready to laugh, tell a story or share a joke with any and all.
Bill married Margaret R. Sheck in 1955, who predeceased him, along with their daughter Mary Jo Atwood, and his parents, William and Gertrude Sheck. His legacy continues through his son, William Sheck Jr and his wife Mary, his cherished grandchildren, Nick Sheck, Chris Sheck, Noelle Sheck, Gabriel Sheck, and Matt Atwood, as well as his great-grandchildren, James Sheck and Theo Sheck.
As we bid farewell to Mr. Bill, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey complete with love, artistry, and the warmth of a man who touched so many lives. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire and comfort those who knew him.
The world is a richer place for having had Bill in it, and though his voice has joined the celestial choir, the echoes of his song will resonate in the hearts of his family and friends forever. We honor his memory and carry forward the love he so freely gave.
