Wayne Joseph Hartnett's Obituary
Wayne Joseph Hartnett, age 61, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. He was born October 7, 1948, in Dover, DE, son of the late John Leonard and Clara (Baker) Hartnett.
Mr. Hartnett was employed by the State of Delaware retiring in 2001 after 30 years of service as the CFO of the Department of Transportation. He was a 1966 graduate of Dover High School and received his Bachelor's degree in Business from Delaware State College. Following his retirement, he started a handyman business that he worked at until his recent illness. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed creating and tending to his flower gardens.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth L. Hartnett, his brother-in-law Charles W. Trader, Jr., his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jean Scott Trader and Charles W. Trader, Sr., M.D.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Donna Jean (Trader) Hartnett; his daughter Kelly Lynn Hartnett; his brother John L. Hartnett, Jr. and his wife Toshiko of Dover, DE; his sister, Patricia Ann Hartnett of Dover; brother-in-law, John Scott Trader and his wife Margaret of Hagerstown, MD; sister-in-law, Linda S. Trader of Linthicum, MD; two nieces: Carol Lynn Lynn Hartnett and Amy Lynn Arndt; six nephews: John Scott Trader, Jr. and his wife Amy, David Edward Trader and his wife Lorrie, Charles Weldon Trader III, Michael Paul Kassakatis and his wife Marici, Kenneth Hartnett and Kevin Hartnett; and six great nieces: Brittany Lynn Shanley, Mackenzie Trader, Caitlyn Trader, Alexis Arndt, Jessica and Jasmine Kassakatis; one great nephew Caleb Arndt and numerous cousins and special friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 3:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE with the Rev. William Hopkins officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, July 26, 1:00 PM. at Bethany Methodist Church Cemetery, Pocomoke City, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Tunnell Cancer Center, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958 or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
