I have often thought of Lt Curry and wished I could thank her for the path my life took. I worked under her in a Naval office at NSA right after graduating high school. I had no particular direction or goals and was pretty clueless and my typing and filing abilities left something to be desired. She was incredibly patient with me and would, one by one, bring her classic books in for me to read and announce that she and I would discuss it afterwards. Like a constant drum beat she repeatedly told me I needed to go to college. I have no memory of her ever being angry but I have over the years, sometimes in my head heard her laughing. I remember feeling so honored the day she took me to lunch and I got to ride in her turquoise and white Tbird. Because of her, I graduated from Baylor nursing school and later, among other work, I spent some time at Purdue teaching in the nursing school there. I've often wished I could thank her and I am sorry I missed the opportunity. Mary (Holland) Vyverberg

I was reminiscing over my years in the Navy, and for some reason I was prompted to search on Google for Viola, to send her my well wishes and to thank her for making me feel comfortable back in 1978 when I was transferred to Washington, DC, and had no idea what I was doing. I was a junior Lieutenant Commander and Vi was a full Commander. She had patience, a great sense of humor, kept an even keel, and it was a pleasure to work along side her. I was saddened to find that she had passed away six years ago. RIP, Vi, and thank you for the memories!

I've always loved Aunt Viola's voice and she had a laugh that was unforgettable. I didn't see her very often, but we talked by phone occasionally. She wasn't much of a phone talker! She is greatly missed and loved.

Viola was the light of my life.I cannot believe that she is not with us. Viola was a kind and giving person and will be missed by all her friends and family. I will remember all the good times and remember her humor and a loving sister. It is so hard for me to write this,
today she would have called me and wished me a Happy Birthday - which it has not been. I loved her so much and thanks to all of her friends for being there when she needed them. I will forever love you little sister and will remember the good times. God Bless.
