In your memory Tom,
One day as I was vacuuming your room, I found a 25' tape measure, I returned it to you, before I left and you insisted I have it, as you no longer would need it. I hesitated and then received your gift with thanks.
Tom Like myself had and have a few 25' tape measures in a few tool boxes. But this tape measure made me think.. How do you measure a man? I will miss Tom. He and I did have a lot of conversations about the days he was a machinic, politics, and other things. And Yes he could become quite passionate at times. However, he showed the kind of person he was. He stood tall among his pears; He had friends, he was committed to his family, I've been told of the strong life long bond he shared with his cousins. I've read, to have a friend, one must be a friend. I've come to know that the ultimate friend is Jesus Christ; what a friend we have in Him. However, a wife to bare your children and support you in sickness and in health, now, that's a sign of genuine friendship. How does Tom measure up? He looks pretty tall to me.
" I hesitated, and then received his gift with thanks", much like when I received God's free gift, Jesus Christ. I thought I didn't deserve Him, the Gift, however it is said all men have been given the "measure of faith", and it doesn't matter if you use 1" or 25', you have been given enough faith to move mountains. I am inspired by Tom, to exercise the measure of faith I have been given in the days to come, to overcome every battle, I will measure out my faith to those I love, and those who will listen, because I want to measure up.
Don't morn to long, Tom is at rest, you see it has been appointed for all men to die once, then the judgment. He waits in the company of ones before him, Kings, & Queens, Princes, and Princess, Knights and Knobbles, so take Heart!
