Rodney Eugene Butler's Obituary
Rodney Eugene Butler, age 86 of Lewes, DE passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare, in Lewes. He was born in Washington, DC, son of the late Amos and Madge (Zell) Butler.
Mr. Butler worked for many years at the Naval Research Lab and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC as a Supervisor of the Machine Shop from which he retired in 1992. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, where he was stationed aboard the USS Boxer and the USS Champlain. He was a member of the Lewes Senior Center, the Elks Lodge #2540 and lifetime member of the VFW Post #7447 in Rehoboth, DE. In his spare time, Mr. Butler loved watching Westerns and the Washington Redskins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his sister Lorraine Worrell and his brothers: Jack, Amos, and Donald Butler. He is survived by his wife Hazel (Gibbs) Butler of Lewes, DE; his daughter Vicki Gayle Butler and her husband Gregory Riddell of Denver, CO; and his son Rodney Eugene Butler, Jr. of Washington, DC.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may visit beginning at 2:00 PM. Reception to follow at the Butler home. Interment will be held at a later date at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
