Robert H. Romspert's Obituary
Robert H. Romspert, age 70, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born in Wilmington, DE, on Monday, March 23, 1942, son of the late Willis C. and Mary (Haganey) Romspert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William A. and John M. Romspert and one great nephew, Andrew Palmer.
He graduated from Salesianum High School in Wilmington, DE, Goldie Beacom School of Business and the University of Delaware with a bachelor degree in Business and Finance. After a 30 year career as a Budget and Systems Analyst with New Castle County, he retired to Lewes, DE.
He was a member of St. Edmond Church, VFW Post #7447 and Sons of the American Legion Post #28 where was an active volunteer. He was an avid Blue Hen Football fan and a season ticket holder for many years. Bob was a kind and generous man who gave freely of himself and his time. He enjoyed boating, fishing, wintering in Florida, traveling with family and friends and, of course, tailgating at the Delaware games.
The family would like to express their thanks for all of the love and support given to Bobby, his family and friends during this difficult journey that allowed him to achieve his wish for a transplant. He felt blessed to be helped by so many. They would also like to thank the staff of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the Residence Inn in Oakland for their compassion and support.
Mr. Romspert is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara A. (Wasik) Romspert; his two children, Carolyn A. Romspert and Joseph L. Romspert and his wife Tera, all of Lewes; two sisters: Sarah Moore of Lewes and Mary Agnes Fiddler and her husband Lee of Allen, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews and their families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 31,2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE where friends may call at the church beginning at 9:30 AM. Interment will be private.
