Richard "Dick" Kellagher's Obituary
Richard (Dick) Kellagher, age 80, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, DE where he received loving care for the past four years. He was born on October 28, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA.
Dick graduated from Bucknell University in 1957 where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree and received his commission in the U.S. Army. He worked in sales for Atlantic Refining Company in Phildelphia before his 28 years of employment with Hallmark Cards. In 1983, Dick's career took him to the San Francisco area of California where he was District Manager of a sales force which covered Northern California and Northern Nevada. He was also very involved with his community and served as President of his Homeowner's Association.
Dick has always been known for his love of running and fitness. He was frequently seen circuiting the community. When he wasn't jogging around the roads, he enjoyed soaking up history, particularly anything to do with World War II. He always brought a wry sense of humor to any occasion. At the same time he had a quiet "get to the point" demeanor. This man was loved so much and will be deeply missed.
Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anne; a daughter, Cheryl Kapes and her husband Scott; a son, Craig Kellagher and his wife Laurie; a daughter, Carol Elgin and her husband Dennis; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Dick's life will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 1:00 PM, at the Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, DE 19933, where friends may visit beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations can be made to the Country Rest Home at 12046 Sunset Lane, Greenwood, DE 19950, or to a charity of your choice.
