Patrick Joseph Finnegan's Obituary
Patrick Joseph Finnegan, age 79, of Southampton, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
He was born March 17, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Patrick was the son of the late Thomas F. Finnegan and Emily K. Finnegan (nee Homka). Patrick was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly, in 2013, son, Scott, in 2014 and brother, Jerry, in 2023.
He is survived by Jean, his wife of more than 55 years, his son, Jonathan (Lisa), grandson, Scott, sister, Emily, brothers, Thomas and Donald (Diane), nieces, nephews, and friends.
Raised in Philadelphia, Patrick graduated from Father Judge High School in 1965 and the University of Pennsylvania in 1969. He then began a PhD program in Physics at Rutgers University which was interrupted in 1970 by his need to serve his country. Upon completion of his military service in 1972, Patrick went to work for the government at the Naval Air Development Center in Warminster, Pennsylvania as an engineer. While employed for the government, Patrick finally was afforded the opportunity to complete his education at the Army War College. Retiring from his full-time employment as an engineer, Patrick continued working as a consultant with the government until 2026.
Among his many pastimes, Patrick especially enjoyed spending time at his beach house in Lewes, Delaware, sailing and racing his catamaran, driving his Corvettes, playing golf, softball, bowling and watching Eagles' football.
Pat will always be remembered for his analytical approach to life, laconic wit, and determination to live each moment to the fullest.
Relatives and friends will be invited to a Memorial Service to be scheduled at a future date in Southampton, Pennsylvania.
