Norma R. Adams' Obituary
Norma R. Adams, age 93, of Lewes, DE passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. She was born on May 3, 1928, in Laurel, DE, daughter of the late Clarence S. and Beatrice S. Riggin.
After spending her early years in Laurel, the family moved to Wilmington. There, Norma graduated from P.S. dupont High School and went to work for a local doctor. She and Wesley married in 1950 and in time welcomed their son, Richard, to the family.
Mrs. Adams was an enthusiastic volunteer, especially for her church, and enjoyed entertaining their many friends. The Adamses enjoyed their second home in Lewes and moved there permanently when Mr. Adams retired in the 1980’s. Wesley was an avid fisherman, and on Friday nights, the best place to be was around Norma’s kitchen table for an amazing fish dinner she had cooked from his catch that week. Norma continued her passion for volunteering by serving at Beebe Healthcare for over 25 years delivering mail and a smile to those in the hospital. She was a loving, kind, and caring wife and mother, taking care of her husband until his passing in 2012.
Mrs. Adams had a strong faith and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church for many years. Loved by many, she will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Alfred Adams, and her sisters, Louise Wagner and Anne Lautenklos. She is survived by her son, Richard Wesley Adams; her sister, Patricia Peterson (Lee) of TX; her nieces, Debra Dawson of DE and Sandra Arriens of TX; and her nephews, Dave Lautenklos of FL, and Glen Peterson of TX.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
Mask wearing is required, and social distancing must be observed by all service attendees and participants.
