Michael G. Murray's Obituary
Michael G. Murray, age 64 of Bethany Beach, DE, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at his home. He was born on March 31, 1957 in Long Island, NY, son of the late Peter and Mary (Stroh) Murray.
Mike was a graduate of Stony Brook University School of Medicine, earning his Doctorate degree in microbiology/virology. A dedicated virologist, he had a great passion for scientific research and drug discovery, with a special interest in polio virus and hepatitis C virus.
Mike was a faithful member of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. He always enjoyed the outdoors, particularly bike rides, fishing, and skiing. He looked forward annually to his father-son camping trips at Lake George. Above all, Mike cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 40 years, Linda J. Murray of Bethany Beach, DE; his son, Michael G. Murray II of Baltimore, MD; his daughter, Meghan A. McKenna and son-in-law Sean McKenna of Mt. Airy, MD along with his first grandchild Logan Michael McKenna; and three brothers: Kevin Murray, Peter Murray, and Gerard Murray.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE. A walk-through viewing will be held the night prior, on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all attending or participating in any aspect of the services will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
