Michael M. Massella's Obituary
Michael M. Massella, age 85, formerly of Oneonta, NY and Yonkers, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was born in Mount Vernon, NY on January 10, 1925, son of the late Patsy and Mamie (Abbate) Massella. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Damien Massella.
A United States Navy veteran, Michael served during World War II in the Pacific, receiving the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Victory Medal.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rose Massella; 2 sons: Michael Massella, Jr. and wife Cindy and Ralph Massella; 2 daughters: Patricia Massella and Rosalind Aikens and husband Greg; 6 grandchildren: Michael III, Meaghan, Katie, Tara, Andrea and Bridgette; 2 great-grandchildren: Kaelyn and Landon; 1 sister, Louise Carbone; and 2 brothers: Frank Massella and Patsy Massella.
A private service will be held Saturday, August 28 in Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
There will be a Naval Memorial Service in Annapolis, MD at a later date.
