Mrs. Massella, Michael, Ralph, Patricia and Rosalind--I just learned of your father's passing and send my late by sincere condolences. It's been about five years since I last spoke with Mrs. Massella and Patricia, but I think about the Massella family often, and how wonderful they all were to me when one day in the Fall of 1972, I, a stranger to New York, showed up and you generously took me in for a couple of days until I could meet with friends in Brooklyn. You are a wonderful family and I am so sorry for your loss.

Although saying goodbye is never easy, it is also a time to appreciate the privilege of having known a wonderful and kind soul like Mike. Memories of Mike hiding envelopes in the oversized Christmas tree, and of simply witnessing the love he had for his wife and children, will stay with me always. Rest peacefully Mike.

To Rose & Trish-I am so blessed that I had the opportunity to meet Mike. I will always remember the dinner we shared in Rehoboth and Mike's love for sports cars as he so admired Bizou-my Z3 that I drove that evening. I admired the work that Mike did on your house, Trish, and how he was so engaged in life and in helping others. Even when Mike's life took a turn 8 years ago he handled this change with grace and courage. Rose-you are an extraordinary and loving person who Mike loved with all of his heart and soul as I could see it in his eyes when visiting at the nursing home during my visit to Oneonta.
