Maureen Gorman Keck's Obituary
Maureen "Mike" Gorman Brown Keck, 66, of Lewes passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at home following a two-year battle with ovarian cancer. Mike was born October 30, 1943 in South Bend, IN, daughter of Catherine and John Gorman.
She was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and the University of Delaware and was employed by ICI in Fairfax as a microbiologist and more recently as a Branch Office Administrator at Edward Jones in Rehoboth Beach.
Mike was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes. She enjoyed bicycling and was a founding member and treasurer of Sussex Cyclists, Inc. Her hobbies, in addition to bicycling, included gardening, yoga and sewing. She was a member of Piecemakers and Ocean Waves Quilt Guilds. Mike finished five quilts during the last year of her illness. Her favorite being a challenge quilt titled "Lewes, My Home Town."
She is survived by her husband, Richard Keck; sister Patricia Gorman of Wilmington; daughter, Courtney Peksens and husband, Rudi of Vienna, VA; stepsons David Keck and wife Michelle, of Lewes and Gregory Keck, of Costa Rica; grandchildren Molly Catherine and Jake Peksens of Vienna, VA and Andrew and Ellie Keck of Lewes. She is also survived by her former husband, C. Marley Brown of Ft Lauderdale, FL.
Mike and her family wish to thank all of their friends, the staff of Tunnell Cancer Center, and Delaware Hospice for the support, prayers and care so kindly given during her illness.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Methodist Church, 129 W. 4th Street, Lewes, DE. Friends may call at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be private.
