Maureen "Mike" Gorman Brown Keck, 66, of Lewes passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at home following a two-year battle with ovarian cancer. Mike was born October 30, 1943 in South Bend, IN, daughter of Catherine and John Gor Read Obituary
I am another college friend of Mike's and loved her dearly. She and Connie Dickerson and I shared a wonderful, sometimes crazy/eccentric relationship and not a few escapades, which I'm not yet ready to publicize, at UD. Since I found out that both of them had passed away only last week, I am just now grieving and mourning, the reality barely setting in. What a shock to see this obit in the News Journal yesterday. What a joyful woman Mike was and the irony of everything is that Mike and my sister Connie Dickerson Stamos were great friends and college roomates I remember when she and Connie had Patty and I to Smyth hall for a sleep over. We played cards and watched them smoke Salem cigarettes. I showed Mikes photo to my family and they thought they were looking at a photo of Connie the similarites are astounding both incredible women who are now in a better place both died from ovarian cancer ten years apart. They fought to stay with their families just a little longer and now they are together again in a beautiful place where there is no pain no struggle and with others who have gone before them...it is difficult being left behind for a while longer we will see them again on the other side. I am so sorry for your loss I know that it is deep and as you sit on the sand and look out over the ocean see them playing in the waves hand in hand I know that I will. Dear Courtney (and Dick) - I am the daughter of one of your Mom's bike partners (Norm Macturk). I followed your Mom's illness first through reports from my Dad and later through your blog. I met your Mom only a few times when biking with my Dad. I found your blog to be a very touching sharing of your family's story and more than a few times, I shed a tear for all of you. Our sincerest sympathy to Dick and family on the loss of Mike, a very courageous friend. Every week we saw her at church she always was the optimist and always tried to keep a smile on her face. We are happy that we were able to share several New Year's Eves with her and wish that we had gotten to know her better. We pray now that she is at peace with our Lord and will continue to keep Dick in our prayers as he goes through another terrible loss in such a short time. With much sympathy, Roy & Diane Miller

Mike has been an inspiration to me as she has endured some very diffiult times and never lost her faith. Now that is a women of God!!
