Maureen V. Casey, age 76, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family in Milton, Delaware.
Born on January 19, 1950, in New York, New York, Maureen was the daughter of Mary V. Early Casey and James A. Casey. She grew up with a strong sense of independence, determination, and adventure that would shape the course of her remarkable life.
Following her graduation from high school, Maureen began a career as a flight attendant with American Airlines, a profession she proudly embraced for 45 years. Her work allowed her to fulfill her lifelong passion for travel, taking her around the world and introducing her to countless people and cultures. Along the way, she built enduring friendships and touched the lives of many with her confidence, warmth, generosity, and unmistakable spirit.
Maureen lived life on her own terms. She was known for her strong character, kind heart, and unwavering loyalty to those she loved. Her adventurous nature, quick wit, and genuine interest in others made her a cherished friend and companion.
For 33 years, Maureen was a devoted "Friend of Bill W.," finding strength, fellowship, and purpose in a community that became an important part of her life. Her journey inspired many and reflected the courage and resilience with which she faced life's challenges.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Mary V. Early Casey and James A. Casey, and her beloved brother, Jimmy Casey.
She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Heagy (Dennis) of Milton, Delaware, and Eileen Casey of Cape May, New Jersey; her brother, John Casey of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; her nieces, Christine Brown of Smyrna, Delaware, Colleen Casey of El Paso, Texas, and Brenna Casey of Plano, Texas; her nephews, Tom Fullam of Millsboro, Delaware, Mike Fullam of Elkton, Maryland, Matt Casey of Watkinsville, Georgia, Jim Casey of New Canaan, Connecticut, Dillon Casey of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Gavin Casey of Dallas, Texas; as well as many beloved cousins and extended members of the Early and Casey families.
Maureen’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the numerous health care workers that supported her during the past two years including Cape Heart Clinic in Cape May NJ, Delaware Cardiology Associates in Newark DE, Atracare in Rehoboth, the teams on 4E at Christiana Hospital, ICU and PCU at Beebe Hospital, PAM Rehabilitation in Georgetown, and Accent Care Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE, where family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment to follow the Mass, at 1:00 PM, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Rd., Dagsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Maureen’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
