Matt was such a gentle spirit. He always made me feel safe and comfortable, even if we were just sitting together in silence. I remember being with him at my Aunt Lynne’s crab feast not too long ago. There was never any pressure to talk about the big things in life. We could just sit and talk about little everyday things and it felt so peaceful. He would also encourage me and my siblings to try Dorothy’s famous pretzel salad any chance he got!! A dish that will always make me think of him, his family, and Delaware.
With his music, he taught me that you should never compromise on the things you love. At every special occasion, I knew I would be lucky enough to hear his beautiful voice.
I will miss him so much. The last time I saw him was at Hunter and Julia’s wedding, and the big, warm hug he gave me is something I will always carry with me. I love you, Matt, and I miss you deeply.
