Mark Christopher Winters' Obituary
Mark Christopher Winters, Special Investigator
Mark Christopher Winters, 68, loving husband, father, and friend, passed away suddenly Thursday, June 4, 2026. Born April 13, 1958 in Morgantown WV, he was the son of Eugene and Barbara Christopher Winters (deceased).
Mark grew up in Sistersville, WV and attended Sistersville High School where he lettered in three sports, baseball, football and basketball and graduated with the Class of 1976. After graduating from high school, he joined the US Air Force and spent most of his service in Alaska. On returning from Alaska, he enrolled in West Virginia University and graduated with a degree in business with a 4.0 GPA. He later started his own company where he provided investigative services for the State Department and USAID.
Mark was a true sports fan and his first love was baseball. He loved his WVU Mountaineers! He followed them with a discerning eye, always hoping that the coaches would make the right choices so they could win! He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan.
Mark enjoyed searching for vintage postcards and for many years he ran a highly successful online postcard business.
Most importantly Mark was a kind and friendly man. He had numerous interests and was always willing to engage in a conversation. He was frequently seen walking his friendly dog, Conan and stopping to chat with his neighbors. Mark loved his family and always looked forward to gathering with them in West Virginia for good food and fun and keeping in touch with them through their “text chats.”
In addition to his parents, Mark is predeceased by his daughter, Cherise Winters. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Diane Boyle Winters of Lewes, DE; his 104 year old grandmother, Thelma Christopher of Morgantown, WV; his siblings, Steven Winters of Sistersville, WV, Sara (Brent) Eller of Proctor, WV and Melissa (Dan) Ewen of Kirkwood, MO; aunt and uncle Janice and Wendell Christopher; nieces and nephews including Melanie and Steven (Jen) Winters, Steve, Chris and Finn Brown and Jacob and Mack Ewen; cousins Heidi Gilmore and Kip Christopher; his in-laws Neal and Tillie Boyle (deceased), Linda and Terry Lansing, Jeannine and Chick Marshall and Neal Boyle and Christine Kramer and their children, Matthew Lansing, Katherine Maguire, James Marshall and Tyler Boyle.
