Mark Lawrence Seney's Obituary
Mark L. Seney, 70, passed away on February 14, 2026, with his loving family by his side.
He is survived by Christine, his wife of 43 years; his children, Scott (Jess), Jason (Carol Ann), and Alison; and his grandchildren, Charlotte, Callie, Drew, and Trevor. His family will forever miss his unwavering love, fierce hugs, and one-of-a-kind humor. His two granddogs, Cooper and Sunny, will miss his generous pets and his penchant for dropping crumbs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lois, and his siblings, Michelle and Brian.
In addition to being a devoted family man, Mark was a fixture in the local business community. In 1978, his father purchased Hillandale Shell, a service station in Silver Spring, MD. After graduating from Georgetown University, Mark took the helm of the business and faithfully operated it until his retirement in 2025. He was deeply committed to his work and especially to his beloved employees, who will miss not only his mentorship but also his friendship.
Mark had a lifelong love of sports and music. He was a talented tennis player and an avid fan of the Yankees and the Washington Capitals. He attended countless James Taylor concerts over the years. During the pandemic, he taught himself to play the guitar and often played for his family, sharing with them the music he loved.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd., Silver Spring, MD. Friends and family may visit at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Mark by making a gift to the Mental Health Association of Maryland (https://mhamd.org/donate).
