Marc Richard Collard's Obituary
Marc Richard Collard, age 74, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Born on January 9, 1950, in Biddeford, Maine, Marc was the son of Aline Berthe (Valliere) Collard and Robert Joseph Collard.
Marc was a proud alumnus of Assumption Preparatory School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He later obtained a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence from the Joint Military Intelligence College. Marc served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1981, and then went on to have a distinguished career as a Master Intelligence Analyst with the National Security Agency (NSA), a role he held until his retirement in 2007.
Marc was married to his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Beth” Collard, for 49 wonderful years. Together, they shared a love of travel, particularly through Europe and France, creating lasting memories. Marc was deeply interested in following various sports teams, especially the NBA and NFL, and kept a keen eye on current and world events. His passion for learning was also reflected in his love of reading, particularly about U.S. history.
Marc is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Collard, his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Mary Anne Collard of Maine, his brother-in-law William Nagel of New York, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Aline Berthe (Valliere) Collard and Robert Joseph Collard.
A devoted husband, brother, and friend, Marc will be remembered for his intellect, dedication to service, and his deep love for family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Burial will take place, at the New York State Veterans Cemetery-Finger Lakes, NY on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE.
A viewing will be held on January 16, 2025, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marc’s memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
