I was deeply saddened by Marc’s passing. He was one of the good guys. I have known Marc and Beth for almost 20 years mainly through art and food. Marc always helped with the Delaware Watercolor Society’s events. He was such a regular presence that we decided to make him an honorary member simply because he was always with us. He was very supportive of all of our art endeavors. He was patient, witty, and low-key. You could say he was the man behind Beth, the one who always supported her in every way. He never made himself the center of attention, but was always helping.
Marc and I shared an interest in French and genealogy. The Cyr name is French-Canadian and my father-in-law had written a book of genealogy about the Cyrs that was recognized by the Canadian government. I shared the book with Marc, and he thought maybe there could be a Collard somewhere in there. We laughed about that. He, Beth, and I shared good times and many meals together. They both helped me when I was sick with a back injury and many other times offered their help, which I so appreciated.
Marc will be greatly missed. The world was a better place with Marc in it.
