Louis William DiMascio's Obituary
Louis William DiMascio, age 78 of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 3, 1944, in Jersey City, New Jersey, son of the late Charles and Emma (Mashington) DiMascio.
Louis was a graduate of Salesianum High School in Wilmington and Delaware State University. He had a 35-year career as the owner and operator of Plaza Beauty Salon, followed by 15 years as a cosmetology instructor at Delcastle Vocational High School.
Louis dedicated his time and passion for sports by coaching basketball, softball, and cross-country. He led Ursuline Academy’s girls’ basketball team to back-to-back State titles in 1986 and 1987, finishing his Ursuline coaching career with a record of 85-10. Louis later coached for Wilmington and A.I. DuPont High Schools as an assistant coach, then as head coach for Caravel Academy. He rounded out his coaching career at Delcastle High School, where he coached for six years before retiring in 1998. Included with coaching, Louis’ greatest joy was spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, and friends. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his brother, Charles DiMascio (Joan). He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sue Ann (Venturena) DiMascio; his children: Anthony DiMascio, Chris DiMascio (Jacky), Nicole Sullivan (Michael), and Brad DiMascio (Ginger); his seven grandchildren; and his several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Road & Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 9:30 AM.
