Obituary for Laymen R. Grant
February 16, 1947 – November 8, 2025
Laymen R. Grant, 78, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on November 8, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.
Laymen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force & was a Master Corporal with the Wilmington Police Department retiring in 1984. Laymen went on to work in fraud investigation and ended his career as a Senior Fraud Investigator with the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union.
In recent years, he found joy in photography & golf. He was an active member of the Delaware Association of Police, the National Fraternal Order of Police, & an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.
Laymen is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Kathleen (Cathy) Grant; daughter-in-law, Heather Grant; grandsons, Justin Grant(Jasmine), & Travis Grant(Ciara); great-grandchildren Theo, Thomas, Sienna, Sage & Simone; niece Dawn Pepe; nephew Anthony Pepe; great nieces and great nephews. He also leaves behind his cherished cat, Louie.
Laymen was preceded in death by his only son Daman, his parents Myrtle & Bob and brother Gary Lee.
Laymen was known for his warmth, generosity, and unmistakable sense of humor. Friends and family remember him as a man whose presence filled a room—strong, kind-hearted, and always ready with a story that could make anyone laugh.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Church, 2414 Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilmington, DE. Friends and family may gather for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Laymen’s memory to Shepherd’s Office Ministries – Georgetown, DE 19947.
