Here are some memories of my dad:
My dad worked A LOT when I was little. But when he got home from work in the evenings if it wasn’t too late he played a game with me and Kevin (brother) that he invented called “hut-hut” which was inspired by tackle football, usually in the living room of our house apartment. I think I was 4-8 years old. There was a lot of laughing involved in that game.
He taught me how to play baseball from an early age. He made sure I had everything I needed to play. He would come to all my games and yell at me to pay attention to what I was doing. I was pretty good at baseball when I was little and that was mostly for that training he provided.
He and my mom took us on vacations at drive distance destinations like the Catskills. We would have fun walking on trails and making barbecue meals.
He was always good to my pets. He loved to throw the ball to my dogs we had when I was young including the first dog Lyn and I adopted after we first got married. Luna really loved my dad. I’m sure they are together again!
Not included in the obituary was his absolute love for St. John’s University men’s basketball. He was on cloud nine when they were in the final four of the NCAA tournament in the early 80’s. Later when I was older he liked to take me to alumni hall to see games and we would go to a local pub beforehand. We had a great time!
Also I am in my current career 35+ years because my parents first put me through school and then my dad inspired me to go into retirement benefits field after I graduated. When he was still working he would call me every day from his work to mine.
Nothing was more important to my dad than his family. To that I can attest. I’ll miss my dad and I love him very much!
