Kathleen E. Bergen's Obituary
Kathleen Ellen Bergen, age 73, of Georgetown, DE, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021. She was born in New Brunswick, NJ, on September 02, 1947, daughter of the late John F. and Regina (Mielke) McKnight.
Mrs. Bergen worked for many years at Eastern Airlines as a reservations agent. She also worked at Pace University’s Welcome Center, a place she made feel like home for the countless student assistants and tour guides at the University who considered Mrs. Bergen like a second mother.
Mrs. Bergen loved nature, wildlife, and bird watching. Among her greatest interests was traveling. She was an avid supporter of environmental conservation and was particularly passionate about protecting endangered species such as elephants and whales. She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 17 in Lewes, DE., and active in the Tunnel Cancer Center Support Groups. Above all, Mrs. Bergen enjoyed spending time with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Michael; her two daughters: Kathleen A. Seger of Buchanan, NY, and Regina Lifrieri of Wappingers Falls, NY; her grandchildren: Nicholas Lifrieri, Christopher Lifrieri, and Juliet Lifrieri, all from Wappingers Falls, NY; and her sisters: Ruth Ternyila of Beach Haven, NJ, and Roberta Wilson of Whiting, NJ.
