June Laurel Burton's Obituary
June Laurel Burton, age 81, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully at home under the care of hospice on Monday, July 24, 2023. Born on August 14, 1941, in Upper Darby, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Laurel Burton.
A native Pennsylvanian, June was a graduate of Haverford High School in Havertown, PA. After high school, she attended Delaware County Community College to earn her nursing degree. June enjoyed a lengthy career as a Registered Nurse for the Paoli Hospital, where she lovingly and compassionately cared for thousands of patients, it was her true life’s calling and she enjoyed it tremendously. After her retirement, she decided to make her home in Rehoboth Beach, and loved living so close to the ocean. She found joy in some of life’s simplest pleasures, such as walking her dog, Waffles, on the boardwalk and cooking delicious meals for family and friends. Her family was the light of her life, and she treasured the time that she was able to spend with them. June was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse and friend, and her smile will be forever missed by those who were blessed to have known her.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Lester. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Hennesy, Dawn Gunn (Charles), Robyn Gunn (Michael), Paige Gunn (Greg), her grandchildren, Steven Gunn, Jillian Russo, Rachel Force, Devin Perry, and her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Olivia, Sophia, Blake, and Jackson.
