Josephine Celeste Dischler "Jody"'s Obituary
Josephine “Jody” Celeste Dischler, 92 years old, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Cadia Renaissance in Millsboro with her daughter, Kathleen, at her side.
Jody is remembered by her daughter Kathleen "Kathi" Weisbecker (David), son Richard Dischler (Lynn), daughter Margaret Dischler, brother Raymond Suarez (Sharyn), sister-in-law Barbara Charles, and son-in-law Eric Krone. She loved her grandchildren: Jennifer Weisbecker, Christopher Weisbecker, Melissa Krone, Michael Krone, David Krone, Denise (Krone) Sherlock, Max Dischler, Jack Dischler, Richard Townley and Arianna Townley, and 3 great grandchildren: Zayah, Stella and Penelope "Poppy" with one Dischler boy on the way, and many other friends and family.
Jody was predeceased by her husband, Richard "Dick" Dischler, with whom she shared nearly 65 happy years, her daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Krone and a grandchild, William Dischler.
Jody was born in Elizabeth, NJ on July 16, 1933, and grew up in South Plainfield and Linden. Jody and Dick had gone to the same schools in Linden, NJ, but never connected until they met by way of a mutual friend on a bus on the way to Prudential Insurance for work. They married in 1953 and lived in Rahway and Watchung prior to building their dream home on a mountain in bucolic Hunterdon County, NJ, where they hosted many family gatherings. Their favorite event was Fourth of July poolside with plenty of stories, grandchildren, food, fireworks and summer birthdays to celebrate.
After Dick’s passing in 2019, Jody continued to live with her little dog Peanuts in the home that they designed together. In 2022, she moved to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, to live with Kathi and Dave where she enjoyed family, excursions, laughter and love.
Jody enjoyed needlework, reading books, watching vintage shows, and sharing stories. Over the years, she volunteered at the elementary school library and had been active in civic and church groups. She was the family glue, arbitrator, diplomat. Jody said that she lived a very lucky life. Other than the early loss of her daughter, she could not have asked for anything more.
Jody will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, grace under pressure, beautiful smile and sense of humor. She was pleasant to all and loved by everyone she met. Jody will never be forgotten.
Jody and Dick’s favorite vacation spot was Cape May, NJ. Her Celebration of Life will be there on Saturday, October 4, 2025, to coincide with their wedding anniversary.
