Joseph M. Rando's Obituary
Joseph Michael Rando, 52 of Ocean View, DE died on Friday, January 22, 2010, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Born Sunday, September 22,1957 in West Grove, PA. Joe was the son of Caterina Rando of Newark, DE and the late Carlo Rando.
He was a graduate of Salisbury University and received his graduate degree at the University of Maryland, His career in social work spanned 30 years, working with the elderly, children and families. He began his career as a social worker and nursing home administrator at Manokin Manor in Princess Anne, MD followed by 15 years as a child protective service worker and administrator for the Cecil County Department of Social Services. In 2001, Joe became the Assistant Director of Services for the Wicomico Department of Social Services and served as the Office Manager for the Salem County, NJ Department of Families and Youth Services for the past two years. Joe believed strongly in community service and served as a board member and president of the Cottages on White's Creek Homeowners Association for 19 years. Joe was dedicated to his family, loving the time he spent with his wife, sons and grandson.
He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Bethany Beach, DE.
In addition to his mother, Joe is survived by his wife, Regina (Jugler) Rando; three sons: Geoffrey C. Rando and his wife, Jessi, Gregory M. Rando and Matthew J. Rando; a grandson Tucker F. Rando; a brother, Russell Rando, Sr. and his wife Lillian; and a sister, Nina Fleck and her husband Raymond Fleck, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 7 PM to 9 PM and again on Friday, 9 AM to 10:30 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, 34874 Atlantic Avenue, Ocean View, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Michael Darcy on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ranch Hope Counseling Services, 45 Sawmill Road, Alloway, NJ 08001-0325.
