To The Rando Family: I am saddened to hear of the passing of Joe and my thoughts as well as prayers are with you at this difficult time. I was hired by Joe to work at Wicomico DSS truthfully without a formal interview...he spoke at length with my former supervisor called me on the phone and said simply, "my department needs you". There were two occasions when I mad Joe very angry and for that I am sorry. For at both of those times he had a bigger plan for the betterment of the department, the consumate assistant director. Prior to his departure from Wicomico he entrusted me with a most troubling case involving the death of a foster child. It was at this time that I received some of the greatest compliments from Joe in reference to my social work service and character. Joe will be missed within the field as he truly cared.

I had the privilege of serving with Joe on the DYFS Advisory Board. He was the epitome of a professional, caring, effective leader and social work manager. He put a positive face on an agency that has an incredibly difficult task and does not always get the credit they deserve. He was always positive and optimistic, and his enthusiasm was contagious. The families of Salem County and all of his employees will be the worse for his passing. So much more his family, I am sure.

Dear Mrs. Rando and family-

I am truly sorry for your loss.

I am a Network Administrator with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. I met Joe when he first came to work with DCF and was immediately impressed with his energy, humor, positive attitude, and compassion.

I worked with Joe on the IT issues surrounding the planning and construction of the new DCF office in Salem. He was very excited about the new office and was always willing to offer ideas and his assistance with this project.

Joe was truly a good, gentle soul. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

It is with great sorrow that I am writing this note. Joe was a very special person and let me assure you, he will be greatly missed both by his family but his many friends as well.

Joe and I worked together for so many years and during that time I saw Joe as a very special person. We got to know each other's families through the many shared stories, we laughed a lot, sometimes cried and through it all Joe reached out and helped so many people. He had an amazing capacity for caring and it showed every day.

It is my great pleasure to have known and worked with Joe so closely over the years. He will always be in my thoughts.

I hope you can take great sollace and joy in knowing that Joe was a wonderful person, liked and respected by so many. Through his family, work, and friendships, Joe's life touched and enriched not only my life but the lives of many, some who will forever remain nameless.
