Joseph "Larry" Lawrence Wood's Obituary
Joseph L. Wood (Larry), age 80 of Ocean View, DE, passed away suddenly the morning of February 17, 2018. He was born in Washington, DC, son of the late Lawrence G. and Mary Helen (Herbert) Wood and was raised in a large loving family with 11 brothers and sisters.
Larry graduated from Suitland High School in Maryland (1955) and was drafted into the Army in 1960, where he served with the 101st Airborne. When he was discharged, he completed his plumbing apprenticeship with Union Local 5 in Washington, DC, leading to Master Plumbing Licenses in Maryland and Washington, DC. Larry went on to marry Anne H. Carroll in 1963, raise two children in Southern Maryland and start his own mechanical contracting business, from which he retired in 2001.
He enjoyed life at the beach, his friends at the boardwalk, church at St. Ann’s, and spending time with his family. As he would always say, “I lived a great life with many things to be thankful for”.
Larry was preceded in death by his dear wife, Anne H. (Carroll) Wood in 2010. He was beloved by his family, friends, and associates and is survived by his children: Tony and Missy; his granddaughter, Sarah; his sisters: Mary Doris, Betty Jean, Faye, Phyllis and Donna; and his brother, Leslie. He will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
