John Francis Hyde's Obituary
John Francis Hyde died January 23, 2010. Jack was born in Wilmington on July 13, 1930 the son of the late John F. Hyde and Gertrude Mooney Hyde. He was a graduate of Christ our King, Archmere Academy, Saint Norbert College and Temple University School of Law. He practiced law in Delaware for 53 years. During this period he was a staff attorney for the Legal Aid Society, Wilmington Assistant City Solicitor, Deputy Attorney General and Assistant Public Defender. Jack served one term as the elected Prothonotary of New Castle County. He had been a member of the American, Delaware and Sussex County Bar Associations. He was a ham radio operator with call sign N3CGO and a past member of the Sussex Amateur Radio Association. Jack was a veteran of the US Army. He served one term on the Rehoboth Planning Commission and five terms as a Rehoboth Beach Commissioner. Jack was a member of St. Edmond’s Roman Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Trustee.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Casey Hyde, his sons John F. Hyde III and James C. Hyde, his daughters M. Virginia Hyde and Carolyn A. Hyde, and his grandchildren J. Andrew Braswell, Sarah L. Hyde, Eliza C. Hyde, Elizabeth D. Hyde and John W. Hyde. Jack is also survived by his daughters-in-law, Denise DeAngelis Hyde and Whitney Zoller Hyde. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his granddaughter Carolyn Casey Hyde, and his sister Elizabeth H. McCabe.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church, King Charles and Laurel St., Rehoboth Beach, DE, with interment immediately following at the Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Family and friends may call at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes DE from 6PM to 8PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2010
