John Francis Lynch “Jack”, age 83 of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018, at the Delaware Hospice Center, in Milford, DE. He was born September 10, 1935 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late John and Mae Heish Lynch.
Mr. Lynch was a 1957 Towson State Teacher’s College graduate and in the same year married his wife of 37 years, Roberta Reed Lynch, who passed in 1994. Following his marriage Mr. Lynch began a teaching career as an elementary school teacher and later moved in to administrative positions which included principal and other supervisory positions. In 1976 he relocated to Somerset County where he took a position as Asst. Superintendent and later as Superintendent of the Somerset County Public Schools. After 31 years of Public School Education service he retired to care for his wife. Occasionally he would teach education classes at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore until 2012.
His love of music and theatre, especially musicals led him to become involved with the Community Players of Salisbury in 1976 as well as his church choir.
Mr. Lynch is survived by his daughter Lynn Willey (Brian) of Greensboro, MD and son Richard Lynch of Rehoboth Beach, DE., step grandchildren Christen Willey of Denton, MD., Jessica Herrandez (Mike) of Frederick, MD; great grandchildren Chelsea and Daniel; brother and sister-in-law Richard (Dick) and Betty Lynch; niece Chris Lynch and nephews Richie and Michael Lynch.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Entombment will be private at Wicomico Memorial Park, Salisbury, MD.
