Joan Carter Taylor's Obituary
Joan Carter Taylor, age 86 of Bridgeville, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 12th, 2019 at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, DE. She was born on October 29, 1932 in Ocean City, NJ, daughter of the late Charles and Marion (Early) Carter.
Joan met her husband, Stanley Dale Taylor, while working on the Coast Guard base in Elizabeth City. They spent many loving years together, and she loved recalling their shared memories, especially the memories and friends they made with the Whirl-A-Way square dancing club.
Joan was a familiar face in the community for many years. She was an owner/operator of a school bus in the Woodbridge School district and then worked at the Bridgeville Public Library for 20 years as the circulation supervisor. She was always a friendly face behind the circulation desk and up until the end talked about how much she loved working at the library.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley D. Taylor; and her son, Charles W. Taylor. She is survived by her children: Don Austin (Debbie); her daughter, Kathy Parker (Jerry); her sister, Jean Sawyer; her 3 grandchildren; and her 4 great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of Joan's life will be held at a later date.
