Jeanne Ayers Booth's Obituary
Jeanne Ayers Booth, 89, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, formally of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her three loving children on Friday, January 7, 2011.
She was a member of the Huguenot Society of America, a Quaker at heart, and a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Friend.
She was a talented, self-taught artist that excelled in everything she did. She was a member of the Seaside Quilters and Ocean Waves Quilt Guild. She was the featured artist at the Cadbury Quilt and Arts Festival on September 11, 2010 where her heirloom quilts, china painting and works of art were featured.
Jeanne was a member of many organizations including, Diamond State Doll Club, Village Improvement Association, and past member of the local garden club. She was an avid gardener whose garden was admired by many. She won the Land Preservation Award from the Rehoboth Beach Cottage and Town Award Committee. She also taught the lost art of china porcelain painting where she met many of her friends.
She spent her summers in Rehoboth Beach since the 1930’s with her family and friends then moved there with her husband and mother in 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harvey Milton Booth II, her parents, Clarence and Florence Fisher Ayers formerly of Wilmington, and her sister Carol Bagshaw formerly of Hilton Head, SC. She is survived by her three children, Diane Booth Wonderly of Pensacola, FL, Jill Ayers Booth LaPenta and her husband Rick of Kennett Square, PA, and Harvey “Happy” Milton Booth III and his wife Beverly of Ocean View, DE. She is also survived by her sister, Marjorie Glanding of Rehoboth Beach and six grandchildren: Jill Elizabeth McCord, Ann Booth Cothron, John “Jack” Wonderly, Holly Ayers Hedde, Lauren Blair Gober and April Diane Booth; three Great Grandchildren: Paige Ann McCord, Reed Goodson McCord and Camelia Jeanne Hedde, and Beverly’s son Colin.
She was a elegantly beautiful woman who had her own sense of style and grace who will be truly missed by the many who knew her. She was our family Treasure.
A Celebration of Jeanne’s Life will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewis, DE. Friends and family may call at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM.
