Jean Louise Wilson's Obituary
Jean Louise Wilson, age 93, of Lewes, DE passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at her home in Angola by the Bay. She was born March 15, 1923 in Baton Rouge, LA, and raised by her parents, Arthur and Laura (Burg) Heine.
Jean was raised in Fort Wayne IN. In 1946, she moved to Wyoming, PA where she raised her two children. She graduated from Bloomsburg University in 1957 after which she devoted 30 years as a teacher in the Wyoming, PA School District, teaching second grade and special education classes. Some of her students still remember her with cards and letters.
In 2000 Jean moved to Lewes, DE to be closer to her family. She was a devout Christian and active member of Conley’s Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed listening to hymns and singing along.
Jean enjoyed going to Conley’s and other churches' soup kitchens where she made many friends. Her hobbies included gardening, bridge and all types of handwork. She was an avid cross-stitcher, creating countless pictures and quilts that she gave as gifts to family and friends. She was an excellent seamstress, making clothes for herself and her children over the years. Jean gave generously to numerous charities and churches. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she made Christmas special with her homemade cookies and unique gifts. She had many lifelong friends and made friends easily wherever she went.
Jean is survived by her son, Roderick A., Sr. (Mary Anne); daughter, Jan M.; grandson, Roderick A., Jr. (Rochelle); and granddaughter, Jennifer Jean; great grandson, Roderick A III; great grand daughter, Lauren Wilson; and step grandsons, Lawrence and Joseph Parker.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Conley's United Methodist Church, 33106 Jolyn's Way, Lewes, DE where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM.
Friends may also call on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.
Interment will be private.
