Jean Lenore Fetterman's Obituary
Jean Fetterman passed away October 25th, 2018. Her exit was made under the spotlight of the full moon, a perfect setting for a former student of the Bessie V. Hicks School of Drama. After 90 years and a brief period of declining health she left this earth to brighten up the heavens. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born March 11th,1928 in Ashland, Pa., the daughter of Myron and Eleanor Sausser. She was a shining star in her little town, full of adventure!
She lived her life to the fullest and managed to find fun in whatever she did. Her numerous travel adventures gave her great memories. She had many blessings in her life with her family, her friends, and her love of Christ.
Jean spent her time in two special places. Winter months were spent with her daughter, Lisa, and her loving family in Lewes, De. She loved the beach area and all it represented to her: shells, sea glass and ocean waves. She was an active member of The Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach, where she was a faithful servant and active member of The Sand Dollars. On her 90th birthday, the congregation honored her with a special birthday party!
The rest of her time she spent at her beloved family cabin in the mountains of Williamsport, Pa. It has been a part of her heritage since age 16! There, she was surrounded by her brothers, Didder (Harold) and (the late) Myron Sausser, her sister, the late Ethel (Sue) Harris, and many extended family members. The cabin is a remarkable place where family could gather to make many memories. The main draw, of course, was time with Jean who was a beacon of love, kindness, and acceptance. She could whip a meal out of “nothing” - - better than anyone, and extra visitors were never a problem. In the mountains she was embraced by the members of the Loyalsock Baptist Church. Their ministry did not stop on Sunday; they truly supported Jean.
Her circle of cherished friends had no boundaries. People do not hear the name Jean Fetterman without saying what a special and lovely person she was to them. Jean, a division manager at Sears for 25 years, was well- loved and respected by her employees. Her card ministry touched many with a thoughtful note. During her recent health issues that ministry came back to her ten- fold. Her compassion for others reached far and wide. Her sense of humor brought light into any occasion. Her homemade “LoyalSake” enhanced many an evening.
She was preceded in death by many people. After all she lived to 90! But most important were Dyke, her dear husband of 62 years, her sweet baby, Robin, and her precious grandson, Christopher. She is survived by her children David, Kurt, Jayne, Danny Fetterman, and Lisa Kiracofe, who are better people because she touched each of their lives in a profound way. We all felt like we were her favorite --that is just how she embraced each of us. She also had a special connection to her children’s mates: Jane Fetterman, Iwen Michaud, Rose Mary Porter-Fetterman, Tom Kiracofe, and Amie Fetterman. She had great love for her grandchildren: Christi Milligan, Cory Fetterman, Heather Nagle, Aaron Fetterman, Adam and Kate Fetterman, Ryan, Jason, and Nathan Kiracofe, Ben, Lydia, and Tim Fetterman; her 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. They will remember a Grammy who was very fun loving and could tell a story or play a game better than anyone. She will be greatly missed! She is happy to finally be with her Lord and Savior.
