Janet Lachenmyer Wildes' Obituary

Janet Lachenmyer Wildes, age 78 of Seaford, DE and formerly of Mt. Airy, MD and Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. She was born in Wichita, KS, on January 17, 1942, daughter of the late Dean L. and Ina (Frost) Lachenmyer.
Mrs. Wildes was a graduate of Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville, FL and Florida Southern College. She built a career in education and was a long-time teacher for the Montgomery County School System in Maryland. A faithful member of Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, Mrs. Wildes enjoyed being an active member of their choir. Above all, she cherished time spent with those she held most dear. Mrs. Wildes was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Wildes is survived by her beloved husband, Gilman Jackson Wildes; her daughter, Erica Wildes-Messick (Lynn); her grandchildren: Megan Messick, David Messick, Lauren Messick, and Jessica Messick; her brother, Bill Lachenmyer (Kathy); her sister, Linda Lachenmyer Allen (Phil); and her many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Bridgeville Cemetery, 2 North Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing protocols must be observed and masks must be worn by everyone participating in any aspect of the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Wildes' memory to Union United Methodist Church, 2 North Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933, or Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
