Jan Lissy's Obituary
Jan Lissy, age 65 of Lewes, died at her residence on February 3, 2011. She had multiple myeloma cancer.
Jan grew up in a military family, living in Pennsylvania, California, Puerto Rico, and Maryland. She received BA, MA, and MLS degrees from the University of Maryland at College Park. She met and married Paul Lissy while both were students at the university. Her career as an English teacher and media specialist with the Montgomery County, MD Public School system spanned more than three decades.
Retirement in Lewes included volunteering at the Lewes After School Program. She enjoyed reading, travel, visiting family, and writing books for her grandchildren. Her priorities were always with family to whom she was devoted.
Jan is survived by her husband Paul, son Greg Lissy (Karen) of Redmond, WA and daughter Diana Macchio (Frank) of Garden City, NY, five grandchildren, Nathan and Marin Lissy and Olivia, Bridget, and Gavin Macchio. She is also survived by her mother, Virginia Erdesky, of Lewes, four sisters, two brothers, three nieces and two nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes on Monday Feb. 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
