JD is a long time friend of my son and a young man with whom I am grateful to have watched grow up. JD has a loving, supportive family and that was always so evident in the way he carried himself, the respect and compassion he showed others and his outstanding character and personality. One of the brightest young men I know, JD took his studies seriously and encouraged his friends to do the same. Although, boys being boys...one of my favorite memories is one where we were making Christmas cookies in my kitchen and JD and friends acted out a scene from their 8th grade math class, JD portraying their teacher and light heartedly (and extremely accurately) did an impression of her. We laughed so hard and had so much fun, not making fun of the boys' teacher, rather the quick wit and fun sense of humor JD naturally displayed. Watching JD turn into a teenager, then into a man, it was apparent he was more mature than the other fellas and was an old soul in many ways. JD was an intellectual and had charm like no other his age. I'll miss running into him and hearing him say excitedly, "Ms. Whitney!" and giving me a big old hug, brightening my day with that strawberry blond head of hair, sparkle in his eyes and beautiful smile. Musician Billy Joel wrote, "...only the good die young..." and without a doubt, James David Kane, sweet JD, is a good one. Sending prayers and peace to his family and comfort to his friends' hearts and minds...God Bless. Love, JD's "Ms. Whitney"❤️
