James Carrol McDaniel's Obituary
James Carroll McDaniel, age 83, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away Friday, September 26, 2025, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE. Mr. McDaniel was born August 18, 1942, in Fairmont, West Virginia, son of the late James Bruce “Ted” and Adrian Currey McDaniel.
Jim retired from the United States Air Force in 1984 at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Following retirement he worked for Arbitron Ratings in Laurel, Maryland for several years before retiring in 1990 to Rehoboth Beach with his wife of 46 years, Ellen Bolin McDaniel. He began working for the Meals on Wheels Program as a delivery person and later became an employee serving as an Outreach Worker.
Jim was an avid coin collector and sports fan. He followed West Virginia University sports, the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and Washington Commanders. In addition, he was a frequent donor to various charitable causes.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, James D. McDaniel (Pamela) of Bridgeport, W. Va and Donald E. McDaniel of Nutter Fort, W. Va; 5 step children, Dawn Darr (Pat) of Reedville, VA, David Faust (Tammy) of Odenton, MD, Tammy Potter of Midland, VA, Barbara Garrison (Joel) of Edgewater, MD and Sean Faust of Odenton, MD; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Monday October 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where viewing will begin at 10 AM. Burial with full Air Force Military Honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
