Helen "Wilma" Maust's Obituary
Helen “Wilma” Maust, age 89 of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, passed away peacefully, on June 30, 2022, at her home. She was born on April 13, 1933, in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Albert and Helen Brown.
Wilma retired from PGCPS in 1995 after 24 years as an Administrative Assistant in the main offices at Northwestern and Laurel High Schools. In her positions she mentored many students over the years, with whom she maintained friendships until her passing, as evidenced by her extensive collection of greeting cards. Wilma had a love for holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween. Her greatest passion was for the beach and giving her friends and family an opportunity to relax and enjoy time by the water as often as possible. She wanted to share her joy with others.
After her retirement, Wilma spent her remaining years at her beach house in Rehoboth Bay, Delaware. She volunteered for the Lewes Historical Society at the Ryves Holt House Museum as a docent. Wilma enjoyed music, concerts, gardening, and eating out at restaurants. Her favorite activities were rides on her pontoon boat and eating crabs. She was best known for her generosity and her sparkling smile.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Maust; her son Keith Maust; her cousin Alfred Smith (Suzanne); and her Aunt Mary Smith. She is survived by her son, Scott Maust (Donna); and many friends, some of whom became her family of choice over many decades.
A Celebration of Life is planned for September. If you would like information, please contact Vivian Hall at [email protected].
