Joyce B Pettitt
A Xerox ad just played on TV and I was instantly transported back to my 10 yrs working for George in Greenwich, CT in the XEEP dept. followed by a year with him at Ricoh. I "googled" George's name and read the sad news of his passing. My memories are fond of this financial wizard, who could sleep through a meeting with his eyes open! He had one of the driest quickest senses of humor and kindest hearts. I remember after work one time, I needed a few dollars for Happy Hour...I went to George's office, knocked and said "Dad, can I borrow $10?" We both cracked up...but that is how comfortable many of us felt around George...while he had our respect and regard as our boss he also had the affection and genuine love from many of us who worked with him. (And yes...I got the $10). The days of a workplace like George's created are sadly long gone or at least few and far between. I will always be grateful that my career began with the mentorship of this kind, warm, understanding, funny, brilliant family man and business genius, Mr. George Barti.
I am so sorry for your loss...and for the tardy condolences.
With love,
Joyce Pettitt
