Florida A. Robinson's Obituary
Florida A. Robinson of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Yeadon, PA, passed away peacefully December 1, 2017 following a stroke.
Florida was born in South Philadelphia to the late Augusto and Edith (DiLizio) DeFrancesco. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1942. During the war, Florida worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and later at the Veteran’s Administration, where she met her husband, William J. Robinson. They shared a happy marriage of 43 years until Bill passed away in 1992. For many years Florida enjoyed her work as a settlement clerk and rental manager at Mango & August Real Estate in Southwest Philadelphia.
A warm and gracious woman, Florida loved having fun with her family and friends - playing cards, taking trips, or sharing a meal. She was always on the lookout for a lucky slot machine.
Florida was a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan and was extremely knowledgeable about years of starting line-ups. She also cheered for the Eagles and attended many games with Bill at the Vet. She delighted in her great-granddaughters, Lydia and Claire.
Florida was a longtime member of the Yeadon, PA Leisurites, the MacDade Bowling League, the Cape Henlopen Senior Center (CHSC), and St. Edmond’s Roman Catholic Church. She especially enjoyed singing with the CHSC Choir.
In addition to her parents and husband, Florida was predeceased by her brother Marino DeFrancesco and his wife Ruth, and her sister Ada DeFrancesco.
Florida is survived by her daughter Susan R. Schranck (Frederick); granddaughters Carolyn Schranck Theim (Christopher) and Julia M. Schranck (Brian Diehl); great-granddaughters Lydia and Claire Theim; nephew Augustin DeFrancesco (Lucrecia); and many caring friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brandywine Living at Seaside Pointe for the care and fun provided to Florida during her stay there, and to the Cape Henlopen Senior Center for support and good times.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Edmond Church: 409 King Charles Avenue; Rehoboth Beach, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM, at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery: 1600 South Sproul Road; Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Florida’s name can be made to St. Edmond’s Roman Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, De 19971, or to The Cape Henlopen Senior Center, 11 Christian Street, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
