Elizabeth Davis Macnab's Obituary
Elizabeth “Lib” Macnab, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at The Moorings at Lewes, at the age of ninety-seven. She was born on December 28, 1924, in Manteo, NC, daughter of the late Susan Hines and Isaac Peter Davis.
Lib grew up in North Carolina, in the town of Manteo, on Roanoke Island. She graduated with a BA from the University of Georgia, later continuing to study Opera at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, where she met and married Douglas Macnab in 1948. They had three children, and Lib was at first a Social Worker for the City of Baltimore and later moved on to research at Enoch Pratt Library and Notre Dame College Library, also in Baltimore. When fully retired in 1997, she and Douglas moved to Rehoboth Beach and later to Lewes, Delaware in 2015. Lib was a highly active woman, as a volunteer, at the church, yoga, until almost the very end of her life.
In addition to her parents, Lib was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; and her son; Iain. She is survived by her son, Peter and his wife Suzanne; her daughter, Susan and her husband Pedro; her grandchildren: Elizabeth, Polly, Douglas, Pedro Iain and his wife Ana; and her great-grandson, Juan; all of whom she was very proud and loved very much. They will all miss her dearly.
In keeping with her wishes, no service will be held at this time. A commemoration of her life will be celebrated at a later date.
In lieu flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 301 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
