Elizabeth Carrion's Obituary
Our beloved Elizabeth Díaz Carrión—affectionately known to all as "Eli"—passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at the age of 94. Born in Salinas, Puerto Rico, in 1931, she carried with her the vibrant spirit, warmth, and grace of her island home, and generously shared it with all whose lives she touched.
Eli was a woman of deep resilience, unwavering faith, and effortless love. She had a strong and, at times, stubborn spirit—one that carried her through life with quiet determination and dignity. Her steady counsel, gentle humor, and unconditional care made her a guiding light for family and friends. She had a way of making people feel seen, held, and understood—whether in moments of joy or in times of need.
She lived a full and curious life. She loved to travel, savor a glass of sweet wine in the company of friends, and unwind with her beloved soap operas. She found joy in simple pleasures—a good novel, long walks through New York City, and the comfort of familiar routines. Her faith was constant; she rarely missed her weekly Mass, and it shaped the way she engaged with the world—with gratitude, humility, and grace.
Eli was predeceased by her siblings Ana, Delia, Samuel, and Santos, whom she loved deeply and remembered throughout her life. She is survived by her sister Marina and her son, Wayne; her nieces Michelle, Patricia, Maria Lourdes, Elizabeth, Aleida, and Gladys; her grandnieces and grandnephews Liza, Rachel, Jessica, Justin, Alondra, Valeria, Leonardo, Alejandro, Gael and Marina; and her great-grandnieces Journee-Elizabeth and Isla.
She is also lovingly remembered by Renée, who, over many years, became family in every sense of the word—a steady, caring presence whose support and love for Eli never wavered.
In her later years, she was cared for with deep love and devotion, and in her passing, that same love carried her home. We will carry her with us—in our memories, in our stories, and in the way we choose to love—now and always.
She will be remembered not only for her kindness and grace, but for the way she loved—fully, freely, and without condition.

Nuestra querida Elizabeth Díaz Carrión—conocida con tanto cariño por todos como “Eli”—partió en paz el 17 de marzo de 2026, a sus 94 años. Nacida en Salinas, Puerto Rico, en el 1931, siempre llevó en su corazón el calor, la alegría y la esencia tan bonita de su isla, compartiéndola con todo el que tenía la bendición de conocerla.
Eli fue una mujer de una fortaleza increíble, de fé firme y de un amor que le nacía natural. Tenía su carácter—fuerte y a veces un poquito terca—pero esa misma fuerza fue la que la sostuvo toda su vida, con dignidad y determinación tranquila. Sus consejos, su dulzura y su manera tan especial de cuidar a los suyos la convirtieron en una guía para todos. Ella tenía ese don… de hacerte sentir visto, querido y comprendido, en las buenas y en las no tan buenas.
Vivió una vida llena y curiosa. Le encantaba viajar, darse su copita de vino dulce con amistades, y disfrutar de sus novelas como tanto le gustaba. Encontraba felicidad en lo sencillo—un buen libro, sus caminatas por Nueva York y sus rutinas de siempre que tanto la reconfortaban. Su fe nunca falló; casi nunca faltaba a su misa semanal, y esa fé guiaba su forma de vivir—con gratitud, humildad y mucha elegancia.
Eli se reunió en la eternidad con sus hermanos Ana, Delia, Samuel y Santos, a quienes amó profundamente y llevó siempre en su corazón. Le sobreviven su hermana Marina y su hijo Wayne; sus sobrinas Michelle, Patricia, María Lourdes, Elizabeth, Aleida y Gladys; sus sobrinos nietos Liza, Rachel, Jessica, Justin, Alondra, Valeria, Leonardo, Alejandro, Gael y Marina; y sus bis sobrinas Journee-Elizabeth e Isla.
También la recordamos con mucho amor junto a Renée, quien con los años se convirtió en familia de verdad—una presencia constante, pendiente y llena de cariño, que nunca dejó sola a Eli.
En sus últimos años, fue cuidada con un amor profundo y una dedicación hermosa, y en su partida, ese mismo amor la acompañó de regreso a casa. Nosotros la llevaremos siempre con nosotros—en nuestros recuerdos, en nuestras historias y en la manera en que seguimos amando—hoy y siempre.
La recordaremos no solo por su bondad y su elegancia, sino por cómo amó—de corazón, sin reservas y sin condiciones.
