My fondest memories of Lucia are filled with her joy of living. Always so upbeat and excited to participate in what lay ahead. Her joie de vivre in all things could ignite the moment for all. Her uplifting joy brought such pleasure to the lives of so many.

There are two special memories that I kept in my heart. My mom told me that while visiting her at the Keys, Tia Lucia will sit in a chair and tight to her toe a string so she can rock a hammock were one of my siblings was trying to go to sleep, while she kept on reading her books, which I assume were for her medicine studies. I have always admire how unconditionally she was always there for her sister, through out all her life. Even if that meant something as uncomfortable as tighting a string to her toe. Her generosity to my mom and dad was above and beyond all imaginable. What an admirable way to show true love to her family. She also made sure to check personally my dad's health after he had an anaphylactic shock which sent him into a cardiac arrest. She brought him here and run every single possible test to make sure his heart was in good shape after the horrible scare. Thank you Tia Lucia for all you did for mom and dad.
