Dorothy M. Rocheleau's Obituary
Dorothy M. Rocheleau, age 95, originally of Wilmington DE, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Our Lady of Hope in Richmond VA. She was born Tuesday, January 18, 1921, the daughter of the late Louis and Lola (Hanson) Szymanski.
Dot was a very proud Delawarean. She often recalled her eleven years at DP & L where she was on the team during the installation of the first IBM computer in the state of Delaware. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed music, travel, fishing and crabbing. In addition to Wilmington, she also lived in Rehoboth Beach and Seaford. Dot graduated from Wilmington High School where she was known as the best dancer in the Class of 1938.
Dot led a full and varied life surrounded by a family she loved. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Rocheleau. She is survived by her children: Robert Rocheleau and his wife Nancy of Honolulu HI, Richard Rocheleau and his wife Debbie, also of Honolulu, Paul F. Rocheleau and his wife Linda of Manakin Sabot VA, and Carol Curtis and her husband John of Burgaw NC. One of seven siblings, she is also survived by her brothers Leon Szymanski and his wife Doris of Tampa FL, and Edward Szymanski and his wife Susan of Pot Nets DE, and her sister Catherine Cotten of Orange TX; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
A Viewing will be held Friday, November 18, 2016 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Burial will be private.
