Dorothy S. Brown's Obituary
Dorothy "Dottie" Simpson Brown, age 90, passed away Sunday, Augsut 24, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. She was born in Washington, DC in 1917, the daughter of the late James Carroll and Lillian K. Simpson. Dottie was raised in Washington, DC and graduated from Roosevelt High School.
She married W. Dale Brown of Stewartstown, PA. Dot and her husband lived in Bowie, MD and moved to Ken Island, MD in 1978. In 2004, she and Dale moved to Cadbury At Lewes, DE.
Dottie was active in Hospice and a Charter Volunteer of Estate Treasures and a member of KIYC, Chester, MD, an avid bridge player, ardent chicken-necker, a creative back-yard gardener, and the ultimate hostess.
She is survived by her husband Warren Dale Brown, Jr.; two daughters, Carolyn B. Wilson of Crofton, MD and Joy E. Bohan and her husband Connor of Dewey Beach, DE; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by two brothers,
William "Buck" A. Simpson and his wife Margaret of Springfield, VA and James C. Simpson and his wife Barbara of LaPlata, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 28, 2008, 11:00 A.M. by Rev. James E. Downs, MSA, at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, King Charles & Laurel Streets, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Friends may call at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriot's Way, Milford, DE 19963.
