Doris Rose Schnider's Obituary
Doris Rose Schnider, age 71, of Lewes, formerly of Wilmington, DE, died on Tuesday, February 07, 2012, at her residence.. She was born in Cottonwood, ID, on Thursday, September 25, 1940, daughter of the late Lewis and Magdalene (Sattler) Schnider. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Schnider.
Doris had spectacular business acumen and used her talents to assist in creation of affordable housing rental units and projects benefitting low to moderate income persons and communities throughout California, North Carolina and most recently, Delaware. She was President of the Delaware Community Investment Corporation (DCIC) for the past 17 Years, where she received local and national recognition.
Doris enjoyed her family and the many friends who shared her life. She was grateful for VITAS Hospice and Senior Helpers for their loving care during her final hardship.
She is survived by three sisters; Marybelle Neary of La Porte, IN , Kathleen Gansel of Hill City, KS, Betty Gilchrist of Roseville, CA and two brothers; Ron Schnider of Cottonwood, ID and Larry Schnider Brookings of Oregon and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Memorial Services will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 am at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Her family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM.
