Diane Therese Burke's Obituary
Diane Therese Burke (née Emerson), 72, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home and was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on June 24, 2025. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Kevin Burke; her daughter, Erin Steinmetz; son-in-law, Matthew Steinmetz; and her cherished granddaughters, Margot and Madelyn.
Born on November 19, 1952, in Madison, Wisconsin, Diane was the daughter of the late Jack and Jeanne Emerson (née Meuer). A dedicated and compassionate nurse for over 40 years, Diane devoted her life to caring for others with warmth, kindness, and grace.
Outside of her profession, Diane found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener, a talented painter and sketch artist, and someone who felt most at peace outdoors. Her quick wit, radiant smile, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Grounded in deep faith, Diane approached life with gratitude, humor, and a resilient heart. She was a loyal friend, a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a true light to those around her.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Burke; daughter, Erin Steinmetz; son-in-law, Matthew Steinmetz; granddaughters, Margot and Madelyn; her sisters, Deborah Collins, and Susan Johnson; brother, Michael Emerson; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, John and James Emerson.
A private service is being held.
